Why are my signatures not appearing when using Exclaimer Signature Manager Exchange Edition?
I recently ran into a problem with Signature Manager Exchange Edition. I had completed the installation and setup my signature template. It looked great in the "Policy Tester" , but when I tried sending an email from an account the signature did not appear. Arrrgh! Time to run through the trouble shooting steps. 1. Multiple Microsoft Exchange Server? Nope only have 1 Exchange Server at this site. 2. Check the "Network Service" permission Check the security on the folder where I have put my images and it did have "Network Service" with full permissions. 3. On the Exchange Server check the "Transport Agent" by opening the "Exchange Management Shell" and then ran the command "get-transportagents" Yep, the "Exclaimer Signature Manager Exchange Edition Routing Agent" is there. 4. Uninstall and reinstall the product. Problem still exist. 5. In the event viewer check the Applications Exclaimer log for Event ID 2500. I only see an 2500 Event ID occurring when I run the Policy Tester. This pointed me to start looking at the "Network Service" access permissions. I install Sysinternal ProcMon software and sent a test email. I filtered out all event that were not the "Network Service". I discovered 2 entries in the log that showed that the "Network Service" was denied logging to the Event Log Service, a clue? So I opened the registry editor on the Exchange Server and went to the registry key. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\EventLog Right clicked it and selected Permissions clicked Add type in the box NETWORK SERVICE click OK and then check the permission box for Full Control and Read. I ran a test again with ProcMon and the first denied access error went away but another one had appeared for the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\EventLog\Security So I repeated the steps of adding "NETWORK SERVICE' to key with full permissions. I then went back to the event viewer and refresh the the Exclaimer event log. The 2500 event ID was appearing. Sent another test email, an Event ID 2500 was logged in the event viewer and the email had the new signature. Success!
